John is a high-energy, blue-collar stud who thrives on being a gritty, tenacious standout 3-and-D player. He is known for his sharpshooting, relentless defensive swagger, and ability to rise to the occasion. They call him the “Microwave," who can really bring the rain from outside as a lethal three-point sniper. But he can really do damage in the midrange if given any space. John has a high IQ and great court vision, excelling at reading the defense, making game-winning decisions, and delivering some sweet dimes. John is always around the ball and impacts getting rebounds for his team as well. John absolutely loves to play defense and taking charges. The best way to describe John is the ultimate playmaker of both ends of the court.
Last season John averaged 9 points, 3 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals per game; John's dedication to the game is evident, but so is his passion to improve is a fuel that drives him. John sees himself as a work in progress. John's focus is on bulking up, finishing stronger at the rim, and playing through contact. Even though John pushes himself hard, he isn't just focusing on elevating his individual game alone; his goals extend far beyond personal accolades. John's goals are to win state again, play more confidently, and have fun honoring Jesus,” with the gift he was blessed with. Basketball, for John, is about more than points and stats; it’s a way to grow in faith and character.
When faced with adversity, John often turns to prayer, asking for the strength to persevere. This spiritual foundation fuels his approach both on and off the court.
Coming off a season where he made significant strides in hitting open shots, John now looks ahead to tough matchups against rivals Oakridge and Galilean. These games test his skills and bring out his competitive fire. With the crowd's roar and his teammates' encouragement, John finds himself at his best when the stakes are highest. John believes they can make another deep tournament run and knows that rebounding, shooting efficiency, and mental toughness will be the key.
Off the court, Logan enjoys spending time with friends, being in nature, and trying new experiences, all of which help him maintain balance in a demanding athletic career. Guided by faith and the advice to “just keep moving forward,” John is determined to honor the game, his team, and his values as he works toward achieving his dreams.
My assessment of John is that his toughness, grit, and clutch play will greatly impact any program when adding his shooting ability, IQ, and defense. John will be a steal for the program that values his play style and skill set—locked in for one last hard run at a back-to-back state title. John will play a vital role in this team getting it done, and coaches should pay close attention to the stat sheet stuffer. Every team needs at least two athletes to bring what he does. Stay tuned.
