Cruz Islay @crus_isaly class of 25 of Williamstown High School is an electric little floor general.
Fierce and scrappy with high energy performances every time. This dynamic floor general is
strong impact on the sides of the ball. Offensively he can score on all the levels. Beautiful touch
from deep and explosive off the bounce and a strong finisher. Cruz can drop a sweet dime. The
perfect floor general with a pass first mentality but is fearless attacking when the time is right
or needed. Cruz never forces shots. Fueling his teammates and making them better is Cruz’s
top priority but than can get it done offensively any time he needs to step up for the moment.
Cruz is one of the best rebounding guards in the country. Kid can elevate to battle effectively for
big boards. Cruz has a nak for getting rebounds like a magnet playing much bigger than height.
This stud understands defense wins games and does it so well. Last season on a loaded 25-1
team in 17 minutes 6pts, 5.5ast, 4reb, 2.5stl earning 2A Honorable Mention All State WV. I
watched Cruz elevate his game throughout the summer. Cruz improved his shooting percentage
consistently. Most impressive to me was the defensive swagger. Cruz mastered putting the
clamps on the opposition by summer’s end. His skillset was beautiful and earned him 1 st Team
all-star at Myrtle Beach live period. Cruz averaged 10pts, 8ast, 6reb, 3stl and 1 or more charges
taken per game. Cruz has set the goal to help his team win a state tournament , 1 team all-
state and receive Every coach should know Cruz will be the perfect floor general for them that
can control the tempo and take great care of the ball as he makes very few turnovers ever. Cruz
will always look to fuel his teammates first but know that he can be trusted to knock down the
big shots at the right moment. .He will always go after every board near him and play amazing
defense .This young leader knows how win. His biggest concern is finding a college that is right
fit for Academics , Basketball, and social life. Not really overconcerned about the level, but the
FIT. Using basketball to be the tool for getting a great education and setting himself up for a
long-term future when the ball finally stops dribbling.
