Amari lights up the court with a fierce blend of defensive tenacity, high-flying transition scoring, and a relentless work ethic that separates him from the rest. What makes Amari stand out is his fearless ability to block shots, defend the opposing team’s top scorer, and create momentum-shifting plays on both ends of the floor. Amari’s defensive instincts are electric, and when the intensity rises, so does his game, turning him into a powerful force that thrives under pressure. Whether locking down on defense, pushing the pace in transition, or finding ways to score, Amari is a dynamic competitor whose best basketball is still ahead of him.

This past season, Amari played a crucial role as a swing player between JV and Varsity, starting at both point guard and shooting guard for JV while contributing to a historic 13-3 record, the best in school history. On Varsity, he earned a spot as the only sophomore selected to the team, helping Allatoona dominate their region with a 14-0 record and capture the Regional Championship. Amari’s biggest improvement was his ability to read defenses, making smarter decisions to either create shots for himself or his teammates. This offseason, he is focused on becoming a lethal scorer from all three levels, especially elevating his three-point shooting. Earning the prestigious Coaches Award two years in a row has been the most impactful moment of his journey so far, reinforcing his leadership, work ethic, and value to every team he’s part of.

Amari currently plays AAU basketball for Redline Elite on the UA Rise circuit, setting his sights on lighting up the upcoming live periods and making a statement at the UA Rise tournament in Chicago this July. His AAU goals are to consistantly score in double digits and building confidence as a dominant two-way player. Next season, Amari is gunning for a starting spot and aims to turn heads, putting himself firmly on the radar of college coaches. Nothing fires Amari up more than a high-intensity game, the bigger the moment, the higher his energy rises. Handling adversity with a never-quit attitude and a next-play mindset, Amari is built for the grind, embracing every challenge thrown his way with unwavering determination.

His ultimate dream is to make it to the NBA, and he’s fully prepared to battle through every obstacle to chase it. With strong guidance, faith in the process, and a fire that refuses to burn out, Amari Smallwood is a name to watch in the years to come.
