Jacob is a ruthless catch-and-shoot sniper behind the arc but also a crafty playmaker off the bounce if the defense runs him off the three-point line. Jacob has a punishing floater on the run. His good court vision and high basketball IQ help him create shots for his teammates. Jacob has a high motor and excels at fueling the fast break, especially off rebounds. He’s also a solid defender.
This season, Jacob is focused on becoming more consistent at hitting midrange pull-ups and elevating on his finishes. His biggest improvement from last season is on defense, as he’s gotten faster and stronger through relentless offseason training. He believes this newfound speed and strength will allow him to jump passing lanes for easy steals, leading to buckets for both him and his teammates.
Jacob feels his team has what it takes to win the district and make a regional tournament run. However, he knows reaching those goals means stepping up as a senior and holding teammates accountable while staying more assertive in his own offensive play. He understands the challenges but is fully ready to take them on with pride and determination.
Being named varsity co-captain this year stands as Jacob’s proudest basketball accomplishment. His teammates’ faith in him as a leader on and off the court has fueled his drive to deliver his absolute best. That respect, combined with his love for the game, keeps Jacob motivated every single day.
Jacob has a special matchup circled on the calendar: Lafayette. He's ready to make a statement with his current squad after being cut from their team as a freshman and benched during summer basketball before his junior year. It’s a chance to show how much he’s grown and how far he’s come through pure grit and hard work.
This season, Jacob sees his team’s path to success in shutting down opponents’ top threats, dominating the boards, and playing unselfishly. For Jacob, the most rewarding moments come from the confidence his teammates have in him. Their belief in his shot, even before it hits the net, inspires him to keep giving his all.
Jacob handles adversity with a calm mind and deep breaths, reminding himself of the countless hours he’s put into the game. The best piece of advice he’s ever received is from Kobe Bryant: “Rest at the end, not in the middle.” Jacob lives by that wisdom, understanding the value of relentless effort and staying true to the grind.
Outside of basketball, Jacob enjoys spending time with family. Jacob loves being able to hang out with his cousins or his grandma, being able to enjoy their company. When he is with them, it's time to take his mind off of everything and just sit back and have fun.
Jacob is not exactly sure if he fits a specific division level, but he feels like he is around D3-NAIA. Jacob thinks around this area because he’s only 6’1 and barely over 160 pounds. Most D1-D2 guards are about 6’3-6’7 and closer to 200 pounds with solid frames. Also, Jacob's athleticism doesn’t nearly match that of D1-D2 athletes.
Jacob has an offer from Vision Junior College of Kentucky (JUCO). He also has interests from Brescia University JV (NAIA) and has spoken a couple of times with an assistant from Mount St. Joseph University (D3). Jacob even toured Brescia University with Coach Eli Hays, the head coach of the JV Blue Team.
Jacob’s impact on his team goes far beyond stats or highlights. His infectious energy, unshakable resilience, and unwavering commitment have left a mark on everyone around him. Jacob is ready to embrace his final high school chapter as the season unfolds, inspiring his teammates and chasing something special together. Stay tuned—this story isn’t over yet.
