Hunter is an electric triple threat scoring sniper with a beautiful touch. Explosive off the bounce with nasty athleticism Hunter aggressively attacks the lane where he punishes defenders with quick mid-range pull-ups or fierce finishes at the rim. Along with that athleticism Hunter can really elevate over defenders with ease to get the shots he wants or thunderous dunks .Hunter's strengths are a high basketball IQ and can read the court effectively and efficiently. Hunter can make plays happen with his teammates because they know each other well and their chemistry is precise. Hunter is a shooter, but realizes there are some games when his shot is just not ‘on.’ Hunter is good at finding ways to still utilize his skill to open up shots for his teammates and assist in their shooting to get the job done. Hunter is a beast on the boards and a strong defender giving us the total package bringing with that a high non-stop motor.
This past season Hunter averaged 23.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game earning All-Region 1st Team , District 7-4A MVP, District Offensive CO-MVP and Team MVP along the way, passing 1500 points scored mark. The most motivating thing that happened last season that will push Hunter moving forward was having a great new AAU team with a lot of height and talent. Unfortunately, 4 of those players were unsigned 2024s. They were signed early on in the club season and they lost those players. It made them work harder with what 2025s they were left with. Hunter realized they were still winning, and that was very encouraging. keeping the mindset that working with what they have and not what they lost has taught Hunter a lot over the past season.
As a senior on the varsity team, Hunter wants to be the best leader; on and off the court. Hunter thinks teaching the younger players how to be better and get better happens all of the time. It happens in the locker room, taking criticism from the coach, receiving praise, practice, and in games. Hunter wants to ensure that when I leave this year, he will leave his team better than when they started, and not just what the record shows.
In the AAU session playing for the 17U DC Kings , Hunter's goals were to keep improving and getting better. Hunter set goals each season regarding points, offensive & defensive rebounds, assists. Reaching those goals not only helps him improve throughout the season, but also makes him happy when he achieves those goals.
Hunter is fueled by enthusiasm. Even when they are behind, when Hunter sees enthusiasm amongst the team, winning or losing, it makes him work harder and harder. Hunter wants to keep that enthusiasm up. In the end, if the score doesn’t show they won, in the locker room, they are just more encouraged to work harder that week and get ready for the next game.
Hunter knows " adversity is all around us and says, Sometimes you have nothing to do with it. It could be between 2 players on a bad day, a team that’s just better, or situations out of your control. That adversity and how we manage it teaches us many things. " Hunter likes to use it as a time for learning. saying Nothing ever goes your way 100% of the time. Knowing that better equips you on how to handle it when it does come your way. Learning from it is key. "
Coaches should know Hunter is very coachable, because HE WANTS TO LEARN MORE. Hunter wants to be better. That’s what coaching does. It teaches him to not only perfect his craft, but also contributes to teaching him to think outside of the box. Hunter enjoys learning from different coaches because he feels like they can bring variety and knowledge to the game. Hunter is a leader. being a silent leader when needed, or he can step into another position and be more vocal. Hunter has good situation awareness and can use this leadership quality for the betterment of the team and game.
Hunter is not set on a ‘division.’ They are all different in their own ways, competitiveness, and play style. More than seeing what division he sees himself at, Hunter thinks of what sort of team he sees himself on. Hunter wants a team that processes unity. Teammates that will be humble when needed, leading when needed, and sacrificial when necessary, all knowing that different games and days may call you to play a different role. You play that role willingly for the betterment of the team and game.
I assess that Hunter is a high level player that could easily play D1 and thrive there but he is just different. Hunter has wisdom to match his high IQ. Hunter will be an impactful player any where he chooses to go. Never seen this level of high charter and thoughtfulness will surely lead to true success. Hunter is the definition of a coach's dream. This last run will be special. Stay tuned.
