Small but Mighty: The Unstoppable Skillset of a Playmaker

Josiah is a dynamic playmaker who exploded on the field this season with constant big-time performances. Speed kills, and Josiah just makes plays. These words sum up the essence of a player whose game is built on explosiveness, precision, and unyielding reliability. With hands that seemingly catch everything and a knack for finding daylight, the undersized but powerful receiver stands as a testament to the impact of skill over size. Josiah's explosive skills allow him to excel even though he is undersized to some. Josiah's ability to adjust pre-snap, read coverages, and position himself for success highlights not only his physical talents but also his football IQ.

Coming off an improved season, Josiah knows there’s still work to be done, focusing mainly on route running. But his big-play ability and versatility have already set him apart. Whether it's burning defenders with speed or making clutch plays when it counts, Josiah thrives in pressure moments. Josiah brings to the field an extremely reliable receiver with whom you can run any route. With this level of confidence and focus, this postseason looks bright for a player who refuses to be defined by limits—just by results.

This season has been his most productive yet for Josiah, with 40 receptions totaling over 1,000 yards and an impressive 19 touchdowns. Thanks to a dedicated offseason in the weight room, Josiah's biggest improvements are route running and strength. After a disappointing 5-5 campaign last year, his team has turned the tide, improving to 8-4 and securing a first-round playoff victory. The momentum shift reflects Josiah's individual growth and the team's determination to capitalize on their potential. Josiah's dynamic skill set and leadership will be key to their success as the postseason continues.

What fuels Josiah's fire is simple: gratitude and grit. Josiah credits God for giving him the ability to play, the skills to excel, and the health to continue pursuing the game he loves. But there’s another layer to his motivation—defying expectations. Josiah knows his build may not fit the mold of a typical football player and that doubt from others only adds to his drive. Josiah feels many people look at him and think he can’t play football, and he loves proving them wrong. That combination of faith and determination makes Josiah a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Josiah handles adversity with unwavering composure, a skill instilled in him from an early age. Josiah believes that no matter the sport or anything else in life, there will be setbacks and adversity. What sets Josiah apart is his ability to face those challenges head-on. What makes a player—or a person—better is "HOW" they handle adversity. When the other team scores, Josiah doesn’t flinch or lose focus. Instead, his mindset is simple: “Let’s go score a touchdown.”

The best coaching advice Josiah ever received is simple but powerful: “Never be satisfied.” That and the reminder that “there’s always someone out there better than you” fuels Josiah's relentless work ethic and passion for the game. It’s a mindset that keeps Josiah striving for more, never settling, always pushing.

For upcoming players, Josiah's advice is to seize every opportunity. Don’t take high school sports lightly. Know the four years go by so fast, and as a senior, Josiah is not ready to give it up, so it's t’s a reminder to make every moment count and to cherish the journey while it lasts.

With Josiah's hopes and dreams grounded in passion and practicality, he and his coaches feel he can play at a DII level. While his ultimate dream is to play DI football, he understands the importance of being realistic and focusing on the work it takes to get there.

Josiah knows that in order for him to play at the college level, he needs to improve his speed, strength, and route running. Beyond that, Josiah is confident he has the skills to succeed as a college athlete. Josiah's determination shines through as he balances big dreams with a clear understanding of what it takes to make them a reality. For him, the journey is just as important as the destination, and every step forward fuels his fire to achieve greatness. What makes a school stand out to Josiah is a passing offense, and a winning program is what stands out to him most. Josiah is drawn to schools that value success and are committed to competing at the highest level.

A coach can expect 110 % effort from Josiah every time he steps on the field. Josiah is willing to give it his all because he loves the game. Josiah brings passion, energy, and drive every time he plays football.

As a multi-sport athlete, making decisions on what opportunity best fits is always a hard decision. For Josiah, this playoff run has his full attention, and any decisions concerning the next level are on hold as he pursues a deep playoff run. Options are always nice. Tune in to see this little giant chasing some WV history as he hopes to help his team get that chip.
