Rockford HS, MI

Lucas is a versatile wing with size and speed that flows with high energy, aggressiveness, and relentless effort. Lucas is a triple-threat scoring option and always gives 110% maximum effort. With unlimited range, Lucas can really torch the Nets from three but is explosive and crafty off the bounce with athleticism. Lucas is a leader who understands how to communicate with his teammates, making sure everyone is on the same page. Lucas has a high IQ and can adapt quickly as he reads the defense. Lucas is a ruthless defender who doesn't mind mixing it up on the boards. Lucas has good court vision and always wants to fuel his ream with easy baskets. He is a problem on both ends of the court with his length and speed. Lucas's weak side help is the most dangerous element of his game for opponents, erasing what looks like sure buckets with fierce shot-blocking ability. Lucas is one of those gems that thrive in all areas of the game.

Lucas's standout moment this past AAU season included a 30-point game, showcasing his scoring ability and leadership when it mattered most.

For Lucas, this senior season I s about chasing a team goal: making it to the Breslin Center for the state finals more than personal achievements. Lucas believes, "You win in practice, you win in games. ,” Lucas thinks the hardest part will be coming to practice every day and giving total effort with that goal in mind.

Last season was challenging, with injuries and an early playoff exit. But Lucas came back stronger, gaining confidence and improving as a leader. Lucas plays freely, helps his team every play, and is happy with his progression.

Lucas takes pride in what he’s accomplished with Rockford and Storm UA, from winning tournaments on the Under Armour Circuit to helping Rockford claim a district championship his sophomore year. Winning their district title against the team that beat them the year before is a moment Lucas will never forget.

Lucas is especially looking forward to facing Northview and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s this season. “Northview is a rivalry game, and Lucas wants to come out on top. As for Orchard Lake, it is considered the best in the state, and they want to prove they belong in that conversation.

Lucas believes Rockford has the potential for a deep tournament run but knows it will take preparation, dedication, and full commitment from everyone on the team.

What fires Lucas up is when guys start criticizing him or his team or when they have an expectation to win in their heads. Knowing this, Lucas uses that against them and has fun by firing back and proving that they don't deserve the success they have worked for as a team.

Handling adversity can definitely be tough. However, learning from moments and persevering through work and communication are things Lucas takes pride in and focuses on in challenging moments.

The best piece of advice that Lucas has received is to take the process one day at a time. You can only control what you can control, and that is bringing a good attitude every day to put yourself and the team in the best situation to be as successful as possible.

Outside of basketball, Lucas played football and loved it. Lucas also loves spending time with loved ones and just enjoying the relationships he has developed throughout life.

For the next level, Lucas feels that there is no division he absolutely needs to make. No matter what level, it will take dedication and sacrifices to continue working even when he doesn't want to. It will take a great level of honesty with himself to see what fits him best and what he needs to do to meet the standard of the next level. Lucas has Division III offers to Calvin, Hope, Trine, and Denison. Lucas also has some interests from other Division III schools and Ferris State. Lucas is ultimately looking to keep working every day and taking advantage of any opportunities I get to decide on my commitment to the next level.

Lucas is a high-level performer with a well-rounded skill set that will easily transition to the next level, offensively and defensively, with length causing chaos on the defensive end. Offensively, Lucas is a dazzling playmaker for himself and others. The best part is because of his football journey, the physicality won't be an adjustment shock either. Lucas will have a big impact wherever he lands in a short time, with plenty of room to grow and develop. Lucas is a coach's dream. This last run should be an entertaining show to see, as he intends to go out with guns blazing, pushing with all he has and his team with him for that chip.
