Connor is a force to be reckoned with on the diamond. Steady, skilled, and dynamic. As a right-handed pitcher, his pinpoint accuracy and body control make him a weapon on the mound, consistently attacking the strike zone with confidence. His fastball may top out at 85 mph, but it’s the precision that makes it so effective, a blend of velocity and control. Connor is equally impactful as a shortstop, boasting the range, agility, and field vision needed to make sharp defensive reads. His high baseball IQ and mental toughness allow him to thrive under pressure, and his leadership elevates those around him. Whether he’s snagging ground balls in the infield or painting the corners on the mound, Connor’s intensity and competitive fire set the tone.
This past offseason, Connor zeroed in on speed, knowing that an extra step could make all the difference, both defensively and offensively. Strength training has been another focal point, adding more power to his pitches and swings. Playing this summer with Kentucky Baseball Club East, he’s set to compete against strong competition in central Kentucky and Tennessee, Connor is looking two big tournaments at EKU, his dream school. Connor’s determination burns even brighter this season as he looks to bring the 14th Region title back to Knott County Central.
Connor thrives on the energy of the game, and nothing fires him up more than turning a slick double play. It’s those split-second moments of teamwork and execution that fuel his love for baseball. When adversity strikes, Connor doesn’t waver but stays locked in on the next play. The best advice he’s ever received is, "Don’t dwell on an error. That play is in the past, and the next one is all that matters." It’s that focus and coachability that make him such a valuable asset to any team.
I assess that Connor’s accuracy and mound presence make him an asset to any college program looking for a reliable arm in high-pressure situations. His ability to consistently throw strikes forces hitters to stay on their toes and his command allows him to work efficiently without wasted pitches. At shortstop, his range and defensive instincts translate well to the next level, giving him the versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. His leadership, intensity, and high baseball IQ make him a player who elevates those around him, something every college coach values.
With his work ethic and passion, Connor will keep refining his craft. College programs looking for a smart, steady competitor with the heart of a leader should have Connor Napier on their radar.
