Chai is an electric 2-way stud with a high IQ and strong ball-handling ability. Chai is an efficient triple-threat scoring option. A real scoring threat anywhere on the floor, all within the flow of the offense without forcing bad shots. Chai uses elite court vision to drop sweet dimes like candy, making him a dynamic playmaker. Chai is a natural-born leader with high motor and energy that allows him even to be an impact on the boards. But validation of his complete skill set and versatility, Chai is a lockdown defender. In my line of work, we say Chai checks every box to make him the total package.
Chai is currently focused on improving his athleticism with Coach NOC , a renowned speed, agility, and athleticism trainer for NBA and college athletes. He is working on refining his ball-handling, improving on-court decision-making, and enhancing his shooting and finishing abilities. Leadership and court presence remain top priorities as he continues to evolve as a player.
He tirelessly trains with his Varsity coach , Coach Cason. Coach Dez “GENERAL” Eastmondof Game Elite, Eli Mayberry of Believe Training, and Coach Mahon. This consistent, high-level training fuels his drive to achieve greatness and outwork the competition.
This season, Chai started on JV as team captain, leading Brookwood High to a 7-2 start before being promoted to Varsity in December. He quickly made an impact with a team-high 15-point game and has embraced his role on Brookwood’s rebuilding, all-sophomore Varsity team. His goal is to grow, develop, and help guide the team to the playoffs by 2026, all while preparing for the upcoming 2025 AAU season.
Chai’s ability to compete and excel against older, more physically developed players, despite being two years younger due to skipping a grade, is a testament to his relentless work ethic. Recognized in multiple game write-ups for his impact, Chai thrives under pressure and rises to every challenge. Born on 12/3/09, his journey highlights his dedication and drive to succeed at the highest levels.
Family plays a vital role in Chai’s success. His father, Iqwe Haywood, oversees his basketball training and development, ensuring he has the resources to thrive. His mother, Racquel, provides unwavering support, fostering a balanced environment where he excels both athletically and academically. Their encouragement fuels his pursuit of excellence.
Chai maintains a 3.8 GPA in honors classes while balancing athletics with academics while navigating a demanding training schedule. Off the court, he enjoys gaming, swimming, and exploring fashion, showcasing a well-rounded personality and commitment to personal growth. He knows that standing out requires constant effort and embraces the challenge of outworking his competition.
With aspirations to play D1 basketball, Chai is focused on dominating at the AAU level, refining his skills, and proving his readiness for the highest levels of competition. His combination of talent, drive, and determination makes him a name to watch in the years ahead.
Get Chai on your big boards now, as his growth and relentless training position him for success among basketball’s elites. If he continues his current pace of development, the sky’s the limit. Stay tuned.
